Foster stronger links amongst the St J's Group

Our first meeting was held in the St John's church building and was very positive with many new ideas coming from the members of this committee. The main commitment that materialised was to support the Social Committee, which we have since decided to integrate and try to ensure arranged activities and functions are well supported and attended. This will carry on through 2011 and be reviewed at the end of the year.

One of the main encouraging outcomes was to suggest and change the 09.00 service at St John's on the 5th Sundays of the months where they occur throughout the year, and to launch 'Soul Food Lite’ Service. This was suggested as quite a number of us like the Soul Food service format, but find the afternoon time of 4.30 not convenient with our other commitments etc. The first one was held in January 2011 and was a resounding success. Being a cross between Morning Praise and Soul Food, having a block of 'Worship Songs’, which were accepted exceptionally well. The response was very encouraging and will now be a permanent change in the St. Johns Service programme calendar.

Our next project was to investigate the possibility of having just One Service in the St. J's Group on a particular Sunday in the year. This happened on Sunday 26th June 2011 and was a resounding success with the result that this event will now happen annually in the St J's Group.
