Celebrating the lives of those who have passed away
Every year in the St J's group we give members of our four communites the opportunity to celebrate and remember the lives of their loved ones who have passed away. This happens every year on the evening of All Souls Day at St. John’s Parish Church in Peasedown. During this annual event, the names of those loved ones who have passed away are read out. An opportunity to light a candle for a loved one is given as well as time for quiet prayer and personal reflection. Bereavement is a painful experience. This annual act of worship aims to give thanks to God for the lives of our loved ones and to provide us with an opportunity to receive the comfort and healing we need when pain and sorrow is acute. Christ’s own words “Blessed are those who mourn, for they shall be comforted” are words which can indeed come true in our own lives. Over the last few years many people have benefitted greatly from this time. It’s helped them cope with their bereavement and to feel comforted.
Our next annual service will be held on Friday 2nd November 2012 at 7.30pm at St John's Parish Church in Peasedown. During this service we will be reading out the following names. If you would like to have someone’s name mentioned in the service please contact the Church Office on 07881 921018 or email hywel_carr@me.com before Tuesday 30th October 2012.
