St John’s Parish Church Office is now up and running with Nathan Hartley being appointed as the new Administrator. The new role is designed to support the Vicar and act as a Church focal point for the community.
Church Minister, the Revd Matthew Street, said:
“The increasing demands of Church life mean that the leadership and running of a Church can no longer be just down to the Vicar. Many Churches in the area are now employing staff to help develop and extend the work of the Church in modern day . Commenting on Nathan’s appointment, Matthew said: “I am so pleased that Nathan has joined the team. He is very knowledgeable about the local community and being active already in the village in a variety of ways gives him a valuable insight into the needs of local people and how the Church can meet those needs.” Nathan also commented, “ My role is to strengthen the connection between Church and community until the time comes when one is synonymous with the other.” Church Office hours are 9am-12pm, Monday-Friday. For anything Church related residents can contact Nathan in the Benefice office on 01761 420862 or email admin@ubpw.com You can drop round to see him, during office hours, at 34 Church Road, Peasedown St John.
St Johns is a growing and lively Church. Since the introduction of Soul Food, the afternoon service, last year the number of people coming has more than doubled. Too often people perceive Church to be ‘boring’ (which at times it can be) but
St Johns is different. Its modern and foreword thinking approach is attractive to lots of different people. It’s quite simply a different way of doing Church.
