Churches hopes to ‘Bridge the Gap’ in 2010 - 29th Dec '09

Churches in Peasedown St John and Wellow will be exploring new ways of reaching out to the wider community as part of a brand new series of sermon topics and talks in 2010.

Staff at St John’s Church, Peasedown, and St Julian’s Church, Wellow, have been working hard to put together a new teaching programme to inspire and encourage people to make a difference in their local area.

‘Bridging the Gap’ will run for 12 months and explore a range of topics from ‘Should we be concerned about climate change?’ to ‘Aren’t Holy Wars just like Islamic Jihad?’

The Leader of both Churches is Revd Matthew Street, who will be launching the new series of talks on January 3rd in Peasedown and Wellow. He said:

“As two local community churches we are always looking for new ways to bridge the gap between ourselves and those we live amongst in our neighbourhood.

Throughout the next 12 months we shall be exploring a range of issues that help us to do this.

Questions about the existence of God, science and religion, and whether miracles really happen are hot topics in today’s society. Hopefully, St John’s and St Julian’s can help residents find answers to those questions.”

The Bridging the Gap teaching programme will run every Sunday at these services:

·         9am - Morning Service at St John’s, Peasedown

·         10.45am - Morning Service at St Julian’s, Wellow

·         4.30pm - Soul Food service at St John’s, Peasedown
