New cafe-style church for Peasedown - 4th Feb '10
Worshippers in Peasedown St John are experimenting with a new style of doing church. St John’s Church has recently held its first cafe-style service where pews were pushed to one side and coffee tables were brought in.

Tea and coffee was available throughout the service, allowing anyone that came the opportunity to relax and be refreshed both physically and spiritually.
Local Vicar, the Revd Matthew Street said:
“This relaxed informal atmosphere proved to be a real success with people being able to enjoy a cup of tea and cake whilst worshipping or listening to the talk.
Here at St John’s we are always keen to try new and exciting things, both to change people’s perception of traditional church and to show that Christianity can be presented in a multitude of different ways and formats.”
Over the next 12 months, St John’s will be hosting seven cafe style services. These will be held on:
- February 28th – Guest Service with full immersion baptism
- March 21st – Annual Parochial Church Meeting
- May 9th – Soul Food 4th Birthday
- June 27th – Guest Sunday
- October 3rd - Guest Service with full immersion baptism
- November 28th – Missions Sunday
- December 12th - Christingle
