Peasedown Churches unite for Easter - 17th March '10
Churches in Peasedown St John will be coming together on Good Friday to remember Jesus’ crucifixion.
The village’s Anglican, Catholic and Methodist Churches will take part in a united walk of witness around Peasedown St John.
Peasedown’s Methodist Minister, Revd Michelle Ireland, will be leading events on the day. She said:
“On Good Friday we come together to remember the sacrifice of Jesus’ death 2,000 years ago.
Perhaps one of the most significant events in history, it’s really important that we understand its meaning for our lives today.”
Good Friday events in Peasedown St John will begin at 10am with a Churches Together service in the Methodist Church. The Walk of Witness will then follow at 10.45am, starting from outside the Church.
Tea, coffee and hot cross buns will be served at 11.30am in the Methodist Church.
Taking part in the Walk of Witness will be St John’s Church Leader, Revd Matthew Street. He added:
“Despite remembering a sombre event, our Walk of Witness is also a happy occasion because it brings people together, takes the church out into the community and recognises that Jesus’ death brings new life for the rest of us.”
